The Four Elements Residences are a new development in a residential area of the Eurosia neighborhood of Parma. The project is a complex built from modular housing units, each one composed in turn from two overlayed volumes rotated with 90 degrees, generating generous terraces and a covered external space that works as intermediary between the interior and the garden.
The entry piazza leads owners and visitors to the units, while also providing some common areas, while the gardens, each equipped with a swimming pool, are the most private areas of the project, protected from the sight by the building.
The units are built around two material and symbolical axes, a horizontal one connecting the entrance and the swimming pool – associated with Earth and Water – and a vertical one connecting the kitchen with the vertical stairs tower and skylight – associated with Fire and Air.
The characteristic side walls at the extremities of the building are born from a requirement of the local regulations, but protect the privacy of the terraces and enhance the dynamic nature of the development.
